The Vanderbilts, of early American industrial wealth and fame, built the largest home in America — Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina at the foot of the stately Blue Ridge Mountains. Biltmore and its vast acreage is perhaps the most-visited destination garden in the United States. Make your plans to visit the Gardens of Biltmore this year!

Aside from touring the interior of the magnificent castle, gardeners and their families will love to stroll through the outdoor gardens of Biltmore. The warmer weather in Springtime brings acres and acres of bulbs and Spring-flowering plants to life. Summer season showcases the gardens in their glory. Fall brings colorful foliage to the Estate. Winter is a special time with festive holiday decorations at the castle and the “bones” of the gardens in full view.

See the Festival of Flowers beginning in April and lasting through May. Music is offered year-round through concerts and other events. The gift shop offers numerous souvenir treasures that you can take back to your own home. Wine lovers will want to visit the Antler Hill Village and Winery on the premises of the Estate. See Edith Vanderbilt’s antique car on display at the Winery and take home a bottle or two of wine to enjoy.

George Washington Vanderbilt loved gardens so much that he brought the garden indoors to his spectacular Winter Garden room. See it and marvel at the lovely calming effect that this room has on its visitors.

Biltmore is open 365 days per year. Plan your stay for a few days to take in all of the sights of the Estate. If you choose to drive, you can take a trek through the Blue Ridge Mountains on your way to or returning from Biltmore. If you prefer to fly, Asheville (AVL) regional airport is ready for your arrival.

Many lovely options for lodging are available either at the Estate, or in the surrounding area of quaint Asheville, North Carolina. Lovely local restaurants are plentiful in the area. Enjoy a meal at one of Biltmore’s on-site restaurant options. Many other dining options are available to suit your culinary tastes.
